Hi Folks, I have Music Acid 2.0 great product. I have composed several pieces using the loops and adding my own guitar tracks, and had no problem....til recently. I'm composing some new tunes and while playing them back to make sure everything is fine, it seems that after 30 seconds into the tune, the bass and drums tracks start to go out of sync, and then I have to stop it and play back again but still it get out of sync after about 30 seconds. If I mute out the bass or drum part for a second and un- mute it....it goes back in sync..but again only for 30 seconds +/-. Though my previous pieces I put together are fine and no problems, I can't figure out why now things get out of sync with the new material I'm trying to compose. Does anyone had/have this problem?? Can anyone tell me what can I do?? I even tried un-installing and re-installing Acid and I get the same thing....when composing new material. Is there maybe a conflict with soundcard I'm not aware of? Please send me an e-mail with suggestions if possible. Thank you Angel |

Angel, Perhaps you can tell us what type of system you are using Acid Pro on. The computer you are using it on may not be able to handle the load. MusicBear www.nav.to/musicbear |

Hi Ray, I find it hard to believe that my PC is a problem, because I had this PC for a year now and I installed Music Acid 2.0 on it and it worked fine on my 1st 5 tunes I composed on it....and they still are working fine playback wise. It's only the new material I'm putting together since last month that is giving me trouble with staying in sync. I have a Pentium II MMX type PC, 200 RAM, good sound card, which is one of those that come with soundcard, all other connections in a small block for mics, inline, printer and monitor connections, seems to be the new thing these days, it's a very good PC. I was thinking maybe buying a separate soundcard (creative blaster, etc), maybe the one the PC came with has a sudden conflict? Anyone reccommend a soundcard for ACID Music 2.0? Look forward to the replys...thanks Angel Ray MusicBear Baker wrote: >> >>Angel, >> >>Perhaps you can tell us what type of system you are using >>Acid Pro on. Angel, I use Acid Pro 2, so I'm not too sure what preferences there are on Acid Music 2. But try raising the buffer when you playback and lower it during recording. I think? Options/Preferences/Buffer. Also try Options/Preferences/Advanced and raise the CPU. This should help most problems when recording in real time. Sorry mate but you may need to increase CPU (PIII) or as you say the sound card. As far as sound cards go, keep right away from Creative (junk when it comes to audio recording) try Yamaha or for high end go Mixtreme. Mixtreme has near zero latency, I use a multi IO but you can get stereo IO type. I hope this helps, let me know how you go on this matter. Nick |

I highly doubt it is your PC also Angel. I had previously been running Acid on a 200Mhz Pentium I with 96Meg of ram and never ran into that sort of problem. Although, it does depend on how many tracks you are running also. Do your new songs have more tracks than your old ones? I would doubt that it's your sound card also, because if you didn't have that problem in the past, why would it all of suddenly appear? Also what have you installed on your PC that might make it different from your past songs to your new songs? Other programs like Anti viruses, Microsft Office anything, or Norton could be now running in the background and slowing your processing power down. A good way to check, is to hit "Cntrl-Alt-Del" and it will list all the programs that are currently running and you could "end task" on anything you don't need for Acid to operate. You might also want to check and see what type of sound card you have and see if there's a website where you can download an updated driver. I would probably also send a message to tech support, because they could probably help you narrow your problem down. Thanks Nick, Brian, What I have done to date, is yes definately reduced the background system operations by using the Alt-Cntl-Del feature. But still having the same problem. As far as number of tracks I use, I rarely use more than 5 tracks, but this wasn't problem previously for me regardless, my tunes are just solely drums & bass with some drum fills to keep it interesting, then I send it to my 4 track recorder where I do all my guitar work. All I'm doing now is just a Drum & Bass pattern and I can't get those to stay in sync, really odd. I'll try the Options/Prefer./Buffer Nick suggested and see what gives. I did call Music Foundry support, but got the same responses some of you been suggesting to try. I am looking to get a better soundcard overall, but the one I have never gave me a problem previously either. Keep the suggestions coming...or I'll have to start looking for another Music program for writing drum & Bass lines for my music, this becomes too fustrating after a while when you're trying to put your musical ideas together and this happens. Thanks, Angel Brian Franz wrote: >>I highly doubt it is your PC also Angel. I had previously been >>running Acid on a 200Mhz Pentium I with 96Meg of ram and never ran >>into that sort of problem. Hi Angel, Just keep trying, it must be something really simple. I use Acid the same way you do with setting up drum pattens and some guitar loops, then record at 24 bit to Digi001 Protools Le on my Mac G4/400. I tell you Acid is solid infact I use my PC P111/550 for Loops /Acid only, it really is the easiest way. Also beware of how long and number of real time recording you do on Acid, unless you have a powerfull computer, big ram and cpu you will be limited here. Just a note, you can down load Protools Free on www.digidesign.com for Win and Mac. But nothing comes close to Acid Music, Pro what ever. Also try setting your own memory: Control Panel/Systems/Performance/Virual Memory/check the box- Let Me Specify My Own Mem Vert Settings.....at this point set your virual mem @ twice as your mem ram that you have. Also try Performance/File Systems/Hard Disk/Read Ahead Opt..... slide to None. What this does and there are many more, is free your computer to do Audio and not start doing other things behind the scene. Write back and tell us how you went. I'm sure Brian would like to know as well. Nick |

Thanks Nick, I'll try this tonight and see. It's becoming fustrating, I know Acid is a good program and all, but if I can't get support from the main people from Acid....why the heck use their products. I have about 4 new tunes I'm trying to compose and can't get to 2nd base! Gotta laugh I guess? I'll let you all know how it goes.
