Why isn't there a version of ACID designed for the Mac?

You are excluding a large market share by not making
ACID for the Mac. Everyone knows that the Macintosh is
the ultimate multimedia editing machine. I con not
comprehend why a company specializing in multimedia
editing tools and software would leave out the one
system that more peopl use for that medium. I am a
normal user just like anyone else. I have sepcific needs
just like everyone else. Why are you excluding 40 or
50% of you user base???

A frustrated user....

Hi Andy
I asked the same question, but unfortunately Acid is a stand-alone
and its locked in PC.
I use Acid Pro 2 on a PC and record it back to the Mac G4 at 24 bit
through Mixtreme to Digi001 via SPDIF io or analog io. Infact I kept
the PC just to work on loops. That Acid sure is a goodie.

HOLD ON!!!!
I heard a rumor there is something similar to Acid for Mac on the
horizon, but not from Sonic. When I find out more I'll get back.

Bitheadz just demo'ed a new product called Phrazer for the Mac that is
supposed to be a loop sequencer like Acid. It's suggested price is
listed at $399, so I'm guessing its gonna be like Acid Pro.

BUT before you rush out to buy it, note that this demo was at Summer
NAMM, home of the bleeding ledge of audio, which means the product
(which is not currently shipping and not listed on their website) may
not be out for several months.

I don't know if you'll see Sonic Foundry ever release Mac software -
they've always been a PC software company and it can be quite a pain
to manage a dual platform development.

It looks promising. I talked to both the president and the artist's
rep at Bitheadz, I was told Nov. 2nd was the release date (we'll
see). Acid is the only Sonic Foundry product I use, and it will be
nice to kiss their PC-elitist asses goodbye.

I guess there's two sides to that coin - I've stopped using Mark of
the Unicorn's products because of their incompetence with the PC
platform, and will only buy Steinberg's products at gunpoint because
they've given out the answer "PC are just like that sometimes" far too
often. Personally, I've been delighted to have at least one company
that doesn't give me dumb answers just because most of their
techs don't understand or use the platform I do.

But in SF's defense, they've never claimed or tried to make Macs apps,
whereas MOTU and Steinberg for years have made PC devices/apps and
then failed to adequately test them. I'd rather not have any product
being offered (the SF way) to me than one with half-assed testing and
half-assed support (the MOTU/Steinberg approach).

P.S. I've been told Steinberg is getting better. I think MOTU is
getting worse.
