Subject:Acid and Guitar Rig /crashvst window

Getting alot of crashes when running Guitar Rig 2 as a vst. Updated video drivers and reinstalled Acid 6d. It will crash while recording and during playback. Might it be the high res button?
Also, the vst window for GR is too big for my (rather large) screen - I can't see the bottom of the window no matter what I do. Any thoughts?

What is your screen resolution set to?
How long do you record for?[ie:20 min jams/1min overdubs]
Version number of GR2?
input monitoring set to auto/on???

I've only had a crash with guitar rig 2[and now 3] when I jam for too long.

ie:1 track of stereo audio. 1 track blank with GR on it with input monitoring set to on...I'll play along with the music continuous for 30min or more.[not by much]

What steps do you go through to cause a crash?

Ed.

Briefly - xp pro service pack 2/AMD x4400/2 gig ram/grforce 8800gts/
mackie onyx firewire going into pci firewire card./ M-AUDIO MIDISPORT 2*2.

screen resolution set to 1600*1200 (formac screeen- grforce 8800gts- latest nvidia drivers)

I've been recording anywhere up to 5/6minutes at a time. (side note -When recording for longer stretches the beginning of the take visually begins breaking up into tight red vertical lines which ultimately overtake the image of the recording wave form - often a sign things are about to go south.)

Using version GR2.2.2.002 - (waiting on grace period upgrade to 3)

input monitor is generally set to 'off'. Because it's crashing so much, i generally turn GR off as a plug-in while recording. I then arm and record as per normal. Which sometimes crashes after a period of time - sometimes not.

It sometimes crashes during playback when the GR plug in has been enabled. Judging by the gapping and clicking - my sytem/acid does not like too many tracks with it as a plug in (ie above 4) - certainly not on high res.

Which brings me to a sound card question. I'm running a mackie onyx firewire card at 24/96 - 3.0ms. /288 samples. In acid, on the audio device page, I've checked 'enable track buffering (default .25) and 'automatically detect hardware latency....' (again default). Do these settings sound adequate? (Another potential clue - after a crash acid often restarts with sound mapper as the default driver. )
