Has anyone tried it? Any advice for someone looking into
doing digital audio on a laptop? Thanks,

I have been running Acid on an IBM ThinkPad 300mhz, 64mb of memory
for 1 year. No problems at all. I also have a Gateway 800mhz
desktop with 128mb and I do not notice any significant differences.

With the Laptop you either need external speakers or some good
headphones. A CD writer also helps.

Joe:

It's all about the system. I'm running a fully loaded Dell Inspiron
7500 (128mb RAM - 500 Mhz PIII w/ basic MAESTRO Sound card and
utilities). I installed ACID 2.0 more than 2 months ago for a site I
was building that needed a Flash presentation. So far, I have had no
problems with it at all...no crashing, no freezes, no Fatal Errors.

In fact, when I plug in external speakers or use phones for playback,
the quality is as good as my desktop (a Dell Optiplex Gx1a - 256 mb
ram, 450 PIII).

My only advice is this, DO NOT run any other audio applications, like
MusicMatch, Windows Media Player, etc., while running ACID. You're
going to eat up your available memory, GDI and swap file resources.
Besides, while your composing, why would you want to be distracted by
outside tracks?
