hi, i just upgraded to vista from xp, and one new "feature" in 9c became immediately obvious. when i'm drag-selecting, it's very jerky and slow, whereas in xp it was nice and smooth. it's very hard to work with precision now. if i de-select snapping, it gets much better, but a) still not as good as smooth as it was in xp with snapping on, and b) i *always* use sound forge with snapping ON.

i tried futzing with my graphic card drivers and settings, all to no avail... but it doesn't seem to be strictly a hardware issue, because it worked fine in xp.

does anyone else have a problem like this? any ideas how to resolve it?

thanks!
pea

Go back to XP? Seems like the most sensible thing to me.

well, sure, i could do that, and i will if i have to, but ultimately i'd prefer to find the source of this problem, since we'll all be moving to vista (or beyond) eventually. in other words, i'd like to know if this is a more of a sound forge issue (that will be resolved by sony) or a vista issue (that will be resolved by microsoft), or if there's just some new setting that i'm unaware of that needs attention. btw, i've tweaked windows will all the suggestions from this site:

http://audioforums.com/windows-vista-optimization.php

are there any other vista daw tweaks or sites that anyone can recommend?

i've also installed the most current drivers for my video card, but i'm not even sure if video card performance is truly the issue here- i'm just guessing that's the most likely culprit, since sound forge seems to be doing a million screen re-draws while i'm drag-selecting (ie, all the little toolbar icons flicker while i'm drag selecting).
