The M-Audio and Samson are very good mics and will improve your audio a great deal, you could buy a small two channel MIC PRE that has a USB output and run your mic into the MIC PRE then into the computer, if you use the MIC PRE you wont be limited to the Samson or M-Audio microphones, Avlex, Peavey, Audio Technica all make inexpensive mics that would work very well for Voice over applications or even music recording. Phantom Power is required for Condenser mics which tend to be of a better quality.
Heil Sound makes a excellent mic called the PR 40 which is a top shelf Announce, Studio, Recording, Voice over mic...Art Bell uses these as do many of the bigger radio stations. Good Luck

Is this a response to some question ? Original question not showing in this topic ....

I would not call the M-Audio or Samson 'very' good mics. But they are OK given the constraints of USB mics. RODE Podcaster is a similar device, possibly slightly better quality.

But these do not compare to a good quality 'real' condenser or electret mic thru a mic preamp. May need either 9V battery or phantom power. What was the specific application ?
