I'm one of those weirdos who loves and uses ACID, but does most of his tracking and editing on a Mac Pro Tools rig. Now I know, that Sonic Foundry is a "PC only" developer, but I'm not sure why. Until now, if a Mac musician (and there's a zillion of us) wanted to get the loop-matching benifits of ACID, he would have to Midi-up a PC, or render a mix on a PC and import the file(s), or attempt to run ACID under emulation. All of these methods are kind of a pain. I say "until now", because Bitheadz is realeasing something called Phrazer (http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM00/Content/Bitheadz/PR /Phrazer.html) It's the first Mac answer to ACID! A lot of us will run right out and buy it, but honestly I'd rather use a Mac version of ACID than learn new software. It seems to me that this is only the beginning of challenges to ACID, frankly, I'm amazed it took this long. So here's what I think: Sonic Foundry, why not port a version of ACID to the Mac while you guys are still "the only game in town"? Bitheadz will most likely make a PC version, they have with most of their software. If Phrazer is as good or better than ACID, they will get all the Mac users, a lot of cross-platform guys like me, and eventually some PC users as well. I guess we'll have to see how good it is. Anyway, give it some thought. Peace. |

Thanks for the illuminating response. I guess next time if I want an answer I'll just ask the 46,001th question about ASIO |
