How can I monitor my loops while recording, and not record
the loops back onto the recorded track?

Hello Marty.

There's nothing in the Acid program which would affect this...
There's something in your soundcard mixer which is telling it to
record itself - you'd have to refer to the manual/soundcard
manufacturer to figure out how to change this setting, since all
sound cards do things differently.

Thanks.

Marty EASY, the answer is on THIS website.
goto the support section and look for the part that haS to do with
RECORDING. actually its easy, Click on lil Speaker to bring up MIXER
App., then click on Properties, click on RECORDING, make sure only MIC
is selected (this is for vocals obvioiusly), then close out everything
and you should be fine a more detailed list..i found it, and this
works with acid music too

How can I record successfully in ACID PRO?

In order to make sure that recording will work properly, you may need
to check the path that your audio is following from the source to ACID
PRO. This path is: sound source, connecting cable, connected to the
sound card input on the computer, the sound card wave driver in
Windows, Volume Control mixer application, and finally ACID PRO, which
records onto the hard drive. If you do not seem to be receiving your
audio source in ACID PRO, take the following steps to ensure that your
audio chain is correct.

1.Make sure that all cables are correctly connected and that your
sound source (e.g. tape deck) is operating at an adequate level. Also
check the mixer or anything else that you have between the sound
source and the sound card input. If you're recording from your CD-ROM
drive, make sure there is a physical cable either internally or
externally connecting the CD-ROM drive to the sound card. If you hear
audio from your computer system monitor speakers when playing an audio
CD, this usually means the connection exists.

2.Bring up the Volume Control mixer dialog by double-clicking on the
speaker icon on the taskbar. If this is not present, go to
Start/Programs/Accessories/Multimedia or Entertainment, and select
Volume Control. In the Volume Control dialog go to the Options menu,
and choose Properties. Click the Recording radio button, and make sure
that all of the boxes under Show the following volume controls are
checked. Then click OK. Verify that the correct input device (Line or
Mic) is selected or not muted and that its volume level is turned up.
You may also wish to unselect or mute any inputs you are not using, as
this will add unwanted noise to the recorded sound.

3.Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Multimedia, and verify that the
sound card you wish to use is the selected device for Recording.

4.Inside of ACID PRO, open the Record Dialog by pushing the red
Toolbar button (or Control+R). If you placed the cursor at a location
within your project, this will be the location ACID PRO will begin
recording to by default. You can also change this to Start of Project
by making that selection. Select the sound card to which your source
is connected. In ACID DJ, ACID Hip-Hop, ACID Rock, or ACID Music this
device was chosen in Multimedia (#3). ACID PRO will allow you to
choose any available
sound card input. Take note of how much Free Space is remaining in the
Record folder. If you wish to record to a drive or partition with more
available space, make this choice before you begin recording
good luck
