Subject:I CAN'T OPEN MY SAVED FILES......PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, everyone. Well, here's my dilemma. I've made a
couple loops on the ACID demo, saved them to my hard drive,
but now it won't let me open them. The files are there
(they've got ACID icons and end in .acd), but when I try
open them this box comes up and says "This file could not
be found in the specified folder. It may be on the ACID CD-
ROM. Would you like to look in a new location for this
file?" Of course though, I don't have the ACID CD-ROM.
So, that's my dilemma. Is there any way I can open these
files? Are they lost forever??? If anyone has any ideas,
PLEASE let me know!!! Thanks in advance and take care.

Hmm..are you talking about the program itself that won't open, or do
you have problems with opening the wave-files you've used in that
particular song?

In the latter case, check if you haven't moved your samples to
another dir. If during the start-up of the song ACID can't find the
wave-files you should automatically be presented with a search menu,
in which you can browse to the proper locations.

If it's the first case, where you can't start up the song at all, I
don't know what the problem is. I suspect the .acd files may have
become corrupted in some way :-(

ATP, thanks for responding. I can open the actual program and I
can open regular wave files and play them on ACID, but I can't open
waves that I previously worked with on ACID and then saved as ACID
files. I know exactly where they are but when I double click on them,
I get that dreadful message window. Any ideas? Is this part of the
demo? (is the demo limited?) If they are corrupted, how did it
happen?? (i haven't done anything unusual!) Well, thanks again for
your help and take care.

It sounds to me like you created the song using .wavs that were on a
CD-ROM or from a folder that has been moved. Unfortunately, you will
need the CD-ROM (or find where that .wav folder now resides) for your
ACID demo to work. For example, I use Drum.wav in my song from the CD-
ROM (or a file C:\Non-Acid Files). I save the song and close it. The
next day, I open the song without the CD in the drive (or I erased or
moved C:\Non-Acid Files). It will give me the message you described.
If you have more .wav files in your song that aren't on the CD-ROM,
the song will open but when it looks for Drum.wav it won't be able to
find it and you will get that message. I think that's what acid is
doing.

If you sampled something (like a drum part from a Moby CD) and acid
is not opening that, well, that's a different problem. I save all of
my samples as .wavs not .acd

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hmmmm. If I understand correctly. Most demos won't let you even save
a project. So if your able to save your projects but cannot bring
them back up later, it's probably a built in demo limitation. I mean
if you could use the program and save your work and then use the
program to continue your work later, what would be the point in
buying the actual product?
