VST plugins

bartkean wrote on 8/18/2007, 3:03 PM
I have put about 40 VST plugins in the vstplugins folder and Vegas 7e will not display them. It apparently reads/recognizes them during the start up of Vegas 7e because I can see them being read/recognized on the logo splash screen. When I go into preferences and specify when folder to look in, then I click refresh they still don't show up. All the VST files work fine in ACID 5.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not much help, just consolation.
I'm having the same problem, SF9 can find the plugins but no joy in V7.0e. Both SF9 and V7 configured to look in the same folders. It seems that some of the guys in the video forum can get the same plug to appear in V7 but half cannot. Restart and reboot doesn't help.

The only viable solution I know of at this time is to revert back to 7d.

Oh dear :(

That's not really a viable solution to those of us without version D. I just got a boxed version of E, it's not seeing ANY VST's (despite Soundforge seeing them fine) and the website doesn't seem to have a downgrade to D.

I've contacted tech support but haven't got a reply in the last 24 hours.

This is horrendously important to me. I've just started at a new company and requested Vegas, now I'm here and have loads of work to do but can't use any VST's...

I love using Vegas for audio work... I really don't want to have to switch to another program or find a cracked older version just to get VSTs, but i need a fix now :(

anyone???

thanks

I bet 8 will have the support for VSTs ;)

What OS are you running?

What happens when you refresh from the VST Prefs page?

Try this:

Create a directory somewhere.
Add one VST to this directory from your curent group installed.
Start Vegas.
Goto the VST Prefs page and change your dir to point to this new location.
Scan for plugs.
Is the plugin found?

No!
Win2K

No one on the video forum can get it to work either.

hey peter,

unfortunately that doesn't work. When i refresh the plug in dialog it sees them okay, but nothing is shown in the list after the refresh :/

I've tried putting the plugs in all sorts of random places with no avail, like I said, Soundforge sees them fine and I've never had this problem with Vegas before. It also appears to just affect VST's as any direct X plugs seem to show up fine. Very odd...

Oh, i'm on XP by the way.

thanks :)

I don't know if this will help but it may be a clue to someone.
A while back I had an issue with the VST, SIR reverb. In alphabetical order, every VST plug after the letter "S" would not be available until I moved, deleted or changed the first letter on SIR's DLL file to "x", xsir.dll for instance, to put it on the end of the VST folder .dll files.
The VST grovel file showed the error, but I don't recall if that was SF or Vegas.

thanks for the tip. I tried changing Sir's name but it didn't work (i love SIR by the way), infact NONE of my vsts are showing up so it's unlikely to be related to sir.

There is only so long i can work without VSTs, this is a MAJOR bug for me and I'm yet to get an official response from the bug I've placed with tech support. I guess they're busy wth version 8.

thanks anyway :)

Well, V8 sees them. Good deal!

Dealing with the same issue on my plugins. Find a solution yet?

Thanks

Don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me and I apologize if you have already attempted this approach to no avail.

I had the same issue with a VST audio plugin 'V.I' designed to convert stereo input to 5.1 audio output. With Vegas 7e installed attempted to load this plugin. Vegas did not recognize the plugin going through the various drills as discussed in this thread above.

I left the plugin installed and de-installed Vegas 7e. I re-installed Vegas 7 and happily the plugin now appeared. I updated to 7e and all was well.
