Subject:ACID Music Studio 7.0 changes

I'm just downloaded the demo of Music Studio 7.0 to see if I want to upgrade from version 6. I've found two things that I am finding it hard to work with.

The first is Midi clips. The documentation does not explain these at all. If I create a new midi track to be used for drums and then enable the inline midi editing option to create a drum beat, each midi note that I paste into the piano roll create it's own midi clip. If I record a midi track using a midi controller, all of the indivudial hits get placed into 1 midi clip. This is how I feel it should work. What is the purpose of having multiple midi cips per track?

The second change is that I cannot figure out how to change the velocity of midi hits with the mouse. There used to be a litle velocity "graph" that you could use the paintbrush to change all the velocitys at once. Now the only way to do it seems to be to bring up the list editor and chage the velocity of each hit one at a time.

Any advice?

You can edit velocity - both not on and off - in the inline edit mode.

You just need to show the velocity to be able to edit it.

When in Inline edit mode, just type the "F" key or select it from

View | Show Inline MIDI Editing | Note-on Velocities

You can also control velocties of multiple notes using the MIDI Processes and Filters from the Edit menu.

This is also covered in the on line help. In the Topic

Working with MIDI -> Inline MIDI Editing

Loo for the the "Edit note Velocity" section under "What do you want to do?"

It is also in the user manual.

Thansk for the info on the velocity. Not as nice as the previous version but it still works. Regarding the manual, is there an online version? I purchased version 6.0 and Iam now demoing the versin 7.0 trial before I upgrade. If I purchase the upgrade does it come with a printed manual like version 6 did?

Not as nice?

How is it nicer to have them below the note in a seperate window?

It is far easier to associate and change them. They are directly related to the note. It works MUCH better.,

If you perfer the old way, ACID 6 Pro includes the old Piano Roll editor.

The pdf manual should be available in our download section. I don't believe we ship with a full printed manual, but with the Getting started manual.

You should contact our sales dept to detemine exactly what ships in the box. (I am not a marketing/sales/support guy, but an engineer here. )
