Can I import a tempo map as a midi file into Acid?

I have a complex song on another computer running other software and there are lots of tempo changes. Can I import the midi file into Acid so I get the tempo map in Acid?

Can I import the midi file into an existing Acid file?

The manual says I can't it only takes the first tempo marking, but then I can right click to "use original tempo".

But at the moment I can't open a midi file. What midi file extension is used by Acid?

I can't get Acid to open a midi file exported from Performer software.

Thanks, Dean

The only way to import the entire tempo map from a MIDI File is to import the MIDI file as an ACID project.

You cannot import the tempo map into an existing project.

ACID support standard MIDI Files type 0 and 1. We look for the extension .mid.

Thanks for the information. I am having trouble getting a midi file .mid to open in Acid.

Maybe I am doing it wrong. Do I simply use File/Open or is there another import menu or something like that?

If you use File | Open, the MID file will be loaded as a project, replacing the existing project.

If you use the ACID explorer, you can right click on the file and it will present you with multiple options.

If you continue to have problems, email me and we can look into the problem in more detail.

I did get a different MIDI file to open.

I was trying to open a MIDI file that was created in MOTU Performer on a Mac and then taken to Acid on a Windows PC. Could not get it to open. Tried many extensions.

I created another MIDI file in Cubase on the Windows machine and Acid did open it.

Thanks, I will explore this option.

I have exported a number of MIDI files from Performer. I have not had any problems importing them in to ACID.

Is there something unique about what you are doing?

What version of Performer are you using?
