Can not install Vegas 8.0

waketek wrote on 11/14/2007, 9:37 PM
When trying to install Vegas 8.0 on my laptop I get an error message as soon as it trys to install Vegas. It says "could not access network location" and forces a cancel with your computer has not been modified. FYI, .net framework 3.0 installs just fine along with the C++ 2005 redistributable. The program installs just fine on my desktop with no issues. I have tried reinstall of everything and nothing seems to work. I have looked all over the net and I am not finding any answers that will fix this. From the error log in admin tools it says this is a 1606 error and has somthing to do with the MSI installer. Please help....Thanks!

Jason

have you tried downloading VEgas 8.0a?

Yes tried that...Even tried to install off my harddrive instead of off the Rom...This is getting very frusterating. I have opened a trouble ticket up with support but have not heard back yet. I have spent 10+ hrs this week trying to get this install to work. .. I mainly use this on my desktop which installed fine. But will be heading out of town and need to be able to edit on my laptop as well.

could it be that the temp folder can't be accessed by your user account? Are you admin or have admin privileges?

I am logged in as Admin...Thanks for the try though! I still have not heard back from Tech support. I reinstalled Vegas 7.0 with no issue at all. However I would like to run the same version I have on my other machines.

Well, I was able to get it fixed myself finally. I had to go into reg edit and delete some keys some obvious and some not so obvious. Just posting my resolution. in case a future case pops up.

I'm having the same issue. What exactly did you delete?

I'm also having this issue with one of our machines. I don't want to mess up the registry. Which keys did you change and to what?
Thanks!

Anyone?
