Hello. Is anyone here using Presonus Firestudio Project? I have this wierd issue with it. Open / create 2 files, one is 44.1khz 16 bit and the other one 48khz 24bit. i play the lower res file and plays fine. but when i stop and play the higher res file, the playback is slower then pauses after a couple seconds then proceeds to play the file without sound. i can see the cursor moving like it is playing and the meters are pumping but no sound. stop and play makes it revert back to playing normally. then i stop and play the lower res file again, now it plays back faster than it should be, pauses after a couple seconds, then proceeds to play without sound again. stop start then cures it, only after it loses the sound. stop start while it is playing on the wrong speed does not fix the playback. it has to pause and lose sound before i can play the file normally. Is anybody here noticing the same thing? it starting to irritate me. thanks.

I've encountered such behaviour with the FireStudio in other software outside of Sony.

It is the FireStudio that is the problem - it is very slow at changing its sample rate, amongst other things.
Also, Presonus make lots of excuses as to why their FireStudio does not work on systems where is should. For example how XP MCE is not supported relative to XP Pro/Home.

(Extreme measure- but I would get rid of the FireStudio and go RME.)

HTH somehow

thanks for the response ken. heeded your advice and returned the presonus box. i was kinda lucky since there was only 2 days left before the 30 day return deadline for it. got myself a motu traveler and works flawlessly with my system. presonus caused a lot of dropouts in sonar. now they are gone with motu as well.

Later!!!

Glad to hear it - MOTU are another good make - so nice choice on that.

Enjoy
