i am fairly new to acid pro 1.0 and am just wondering if
there is an effective and effiecient way to create drum
beats in acid using one-shot snares, kicks, hi-hats etc.

i fing it quite hard to place a kick and a snare in time
with the tempo without a metronome (like in Cubase). is acid
no good for this- only loops, or is there a method

thanks

Andrew--

Try using the Zoom tool to expnad a track section, and definately use
the Snap To option--at least 16th notes. You should be able to drop
drum events in place. It helps if you can write a beat on paper.
Think of it as tablature. I have had to change One-shots to Loops in
order to resize the envelope to lay multiple events in a bar. If
there's an easier way, maybe someone else can chime in...

Andrew.... Creating good beats with Acid loops is OK, but it will
soon be very limiting (things will start to sound the same) Here's
your answer. A program from Propellerhead software called "Rebirth RB
338" (street price is around $150)

This is nothing less than two complete drum synthesizers, linked to
two tone synth units, and you have complete control over the entire
process. Best of all, the beats can be saved as wave loops, and they
work great in acid. With rebirt you can create the type of complete
grove loops that you find on the Acid loop CDs.

Rebirth is not all that easy to use, but if you take the time to
understand it, it will become the perfect companion to Acid.

Good Luck

You can also try Fruity Loops, which is a pretty formidible sequencer-
-you can make any beat, and it comes with a load of pf bass, synth,
etc sounds. A search engine sill turn it up for you.
