Acid 6.0 b
When i monitor performance with acid open but totaly blank, nothing loaded whatso ever, the performance meter jumps all the time between 8% to 13% with spikes up to 56%.
What gives?
I checked Vegas & sound forge empty and the meter is at 0% without moving at all.
Thanks Frog

What driver/sound card setting are you using (ASIO, DirectX etc)? Are there other programs in the background using CPU such as A/Virus?

Are all programs set to the same audio device settings - ie, all ASIO, or all DIrectX full duplex etc, or is Acid set to something different?

ACID is always "live". The audio hardware is always open and streaming data. This is to permit live playing of softsynths.

Vegas and Forge are not "live" in this way.

On my main box - a dual proc dual core - ACID when idle registers ~ 2-8%.

Depending on how you have ACID configured, seeing spikes is very possible, but 56% is very large. With out knowing your exact configuation I cannot even guess what would be causing that.
