The Letus Extreme is supposed to be very good, with lower light loss than other adapters. It also does the image flip so it's easier to use.

Sony have announced a HDV camera with interchangeable glass, might be a reworked V1. This would be a very good platform to build a 35mm adaptor for as the whole thing would mount directly onto the camera with a fixed focus lens looking at the screen that's been optimised for the task unlike the zoom lenses on the other HDV cameras.

Letus extreme is the way to go. The only drawback is the thing weighs in at 2 pounds.

great information over at DVXuser and DVInfo on these if you haven't checked it out - almost a cult club :) - There are pretty much 4 solid players in the sub $2k catagory being the Redrock Micro M2, SGPro, Letus Extreme (and Economy) and the Cinevate Brevis. Don't forget the P+S Technik and the MovieTube Jr - both of those however are $4k and up.

Personally I don't see many paving the way with new adapters at this point, many are trying but I think they still fall into a very R&D lacking DIY category. Of course there could always be something hiding around the corner.

Personally I ordered a Letus Extreme and will be using it with both Nikon and Zeiss PL mount lenses - I've shot on the M2 and the Brevis and I feel the Letus has more to offer, including the flip, at this time. Time will certainly tell of course.

I hadn't even heard of the Letus until now and that's the missing information I was hoping for. Thanks all.

Does the Letus include any of the additional features offered by the M2 (rails, matte box, etc)?

It looks like it's just the adaptor but if it weighs in at 2 pounds, what supports all that weight? I've only been able to find links to resellers. No manufacturer specs.

There is an option for a lens support. Most rail system makers have support arm accessories for their rail systems that you can improvise to make work....it's called gaffers tape?
