Hello !

I'm searching for tools and/or tips to simulate some types of speakers, like bullhorns, cellular phones, etc...

I know a little about Speakerphone but I find it too much complicated and its interface is far too large for my screen resolution (1024x768)...

So...

Does anyone know a simple VST plugin to do similar processings ?

Specific parameters for SoundForge EQ will do also !

Thanks.

You could muck about with eq, or use the included Acoustic Mirror plugin that you could do an impulse on (or find a ready-made one) of a real speaker/horn/whatever to generate a model to apply to your sound.

The Beamsonic site is long gone. But it had tons of free impulses (mics, amps, etc). Maybe they're still out there somewhere.

I've never used Acoustic Mirror in the past, because the available impulses do not give the results I expect.

So, I have experimented it a while and I've just created my first own impulse by playing the test tones thru a laptop internal speaker and record the sound with the Edirol R-09 recorder.
And yes ! The impulse gives expected results !
Thanks everyone for the advice !

Some more questions to specialists...

Is there a difference between Acoustic Mirror impulses and the response files used with convolution reverbs (Waves IR, Voxengo Pristine, ...). Are they compatible ?

Where can I find true and good impulses of well-known acoustic spaces as concert halls, churches, etc... (free or not) ?

All advices and tips about impulses are welcome ;)
Thanks !

Both Acoustic Mirror and Convolution use impulse-based techniques.

Which halls/churches etc are you after - you have d/led the acoustic mirror impulses from this site already? THat gives you a reasonable collection of very usable stuff.

Thanks Ken.
I'm searching for impulses created from real spaces and, why not, from well known concert halls, stadiums, churches in Europe or elsewhere, recorded in a professional quality. I don't know if such impulses exist, free or commercial, but it could be very interesting, IMO.

Another question : is there a way to convert the Sony .sfi files to .wav files (for using the impulses in other reverb plug-ins) ?
