I have ACID music 2.0 and am considering getting ACID Pro.
I quickly noticed, with ACID music 2.0, that you can't
apply an effect and a VOL or PAN envelope to the same track
(unless I'm missing something here). You have to either
have a VOL or PAN envelope, or and FX assingned. And you
can have more than one FX working at once, even on a
different track. My question:
1)Can you use more than one FX simultaneusly with PRO?
2)Can you have a VOL and a PAN and an FX simultaneuosly on
the same track with PRO?
EMAIL ME IF YOU KNOW. (Ya I know I should download the
demo, but my connection stinks, so thats a pain in the neck)
THANKS ALOT!!!

ACID Music will allow you to have both VOLUME and PAN envelopes
simultaneously in every track. In addition, you can add a single
effect that you can turn on or off for each track.

ACID Pro has Midi timecode sync and allows multiple effects across
tracks. I don't think you can apply multiple effects to a single
track though, but I could be wrong.

While I wish I had ACID Pro, the entry fee is a little steep for me.
I bought ACID Music and Sound Forge XP for less than the $99 Sonic
Foundry offers it here. The effects that come with ACID Music work in
Sound Forge. This allows you to take a sample and apply an effect to
it and then import it back into ACID. This way you can use multiple
effects without using ACID Pro. It's not real time, but it is REAL
CHEAP!

But if you are seriously into music, you might want to take the
plunge and get ACID Pro - which comes with Sound Forge XP.

Yes - you can set Pan, Vol and 2 Efx for each track seperatly, as well
as send each track to a different playback output (that is, depending
on your sound card).

ACID defaults to the Vol tab (next to the track name) - if you click
this it drops downa a menu with Pan and EFX1 and EFX2.

Ok, so you CAN do an effect, a pan and/or volume on the same track in
ACID Music? Every time I try to assign an effect to a track that I
have already set a PAN or VOL, it deletes my PAN and/or VOL
envelopes. Or are you talking about PRO?
If I understand, PRO will even allow you to have an effect on one
track, and a different effect on a different track at the same time?
THANKS ALL FOR THE INFO. YOUVE BEEN MOST HELPFUL.

He's talking about ACID Pro. I have ACID Music and can do both a
VOLUME and PAN envelope for every track. In addition, a single effect
can be used across any tracks you choose by clicking on the 'FX'
button beside the track name.

I guess Pro allows 2 effects per track in addition to VOL and PAN
envelopes. I don't understand why you would want to output to
different source, but I'm not a professional musician - just a loop
hacker!

Ok. You said you can have an effect in addition to you other
envelopes (with Acid Music)? Every time I assign an effect to a
track (by pressing the FX button on the track) with other envelopes
(ie. pan and/or vol), I am left with just the effect, and no vol or
pan envelopes (ie. constant volume, but with an effect). How do you
get both a vol envelope and an effect on the same track? Or can you
even do that (with Acid Music)?
BTW I don't know why you would want seperate tracks to different
outputs either. Those crazy musicians...
Thanks again

I'm doing this while I explain it just so you know that I'm not just
making this up - although you will still have to take my word for it!

Pull the loop 'Cracked Cone 3.wav' from the ACID Music CD (under Rock
Guitars) into the track window. Then paint a few bars across. Click
on the track to 'Highlight' it. Now, right click on the track and
select 'Envelope -> Volume' from the the menu. A blue line should
appear on your track. Now add 4 points along the line and use them to
increase and decrease the volume across the track. Once you finish,
right click on the track again, but this time select 'Envelope ->
Pan' from the menu. You should now have a black line beneath the blue
one. Add 3 points to the line and pull them up and down to pan the
audio left and right.

Now press the 'Play All' button and confirm that the Volume and Pan
are working as you expected. Should be no problems so far...

Okay, now go to the tab in the lower right-hand corner and click on
the 'FX' tab - the lower portion of the screen should become the
effects editor. Choose 'ExpressFX Chorus' from the plug-in list
and 'Guitar' from the preset list.

Now click on the 'FX' button up on the track list to 'turn on' the
effect for that track and click the 'Play All' button.

...And OH SHIT!!! You're right! It doesn't work! I can see my pan and
volume envelopes but they have no effect!

Hmmm, I wonder what's up with that? Does this mean we have to take
every track into Sound Forge XP to add effects so that our envelopes
will still work? I wonder if the guys with ACID Pro experience this?

Sorry Gregory, I thought I knew what the hell I was talking about!

HEY SF!!! IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY??? IS THIS A SOFTWARE OR
HARDWARE PROBLEM???

I have an AMD 350Mhz K6-2 running on a mobo with 1 meg cache and
100Mhz FSB, 128Mb PC100 SDRAM, and a Creative Labs PCI 128 soundcard.

Please tell us we're not crazy!!!

I am running a PII450 with 128M 100Mhz ram, and a turtlebeach
soundcard. So, I'm thinking it's the software. Any PRO users out
there that can check this out on the PRO version?
Thanks again alien for taking the time to confirm.

Never had any problems with PRO but I ran your test to make sure. No
problems works fine. Even added 5 more FX still no problems.

Did this on my old machine:

PII 233, 128MB, 5400 HD, Event Gina

You'd want to send tracks to seperate outputs if you were using a
mixer. You could then route effects to your mixer and add them to
your ACID tracks that way instead of trying to use the
somewhat limited (even in ACID Pro) internal ACID effects.
