Need some help-- ACID for drums ? -ACID Product Family

Subject:Need some help-- ACID for drums ? Posted by: Toaster Date:2/5/2000 9:54:00 AM I run a small studio and I am looking for a cheap drummer. I figure a drum machine or a looping program is what I want. I have used MIDI drum programs and it seems like they all suck. So I really only NEED drums, but I would like to be able to do anything from rock to hip-hop to techno beats. Is acid a good tool for making drum beats. Is acid the best drumming program I can get ? I really don't need bass or guitar stuff although it might be neat. If some Acid guru could just email me with some answers and maybe let me ask a couple more questions before I invest my money that would be great. meverett@csi-pc.com

But, I see you haven't got any input yet, so I give my 2 cents (actually probably closer to 1 cent). If you have some drum patterns that you want to lay down, ACID makes it pretty easy. You pick the BPM, then ACID give you a grid to lay out your patterns. Use any wav file (or any of the other formats it accepts), and plug em into any pattern you want. Acid doesn't really provide you with the drum sounds thought (just a bunch of so-so loops of pre-made patterns and such). But if you a little bit about drum patterns, and where to go with them, then ACID Music 2.0 can work pretty well (especially for $100). Personally, I'd like to be able to tap out my drum patterns on some sort of midi device and then see my patterns on the screen, but I don't know how to do that yet. You can use preset loops or take individual drums and cymbals and create your own loops. I love it. No back talk, never shows up drunk or late, no overplaying, no backtalk.
