The Pro version gives you midi-timecode syncing (sp?) and multiple effects processing that you can't do with the lesser versions. I use ACID Music 2.0 myself and have been very satisfied. If you are a serious musician you may really need the Pro version for the added benefits. A work-around for the effects problem in the non-Pro version is to also purchase Sound Forge XP. It uses the same plug-ins that come with ACID Music so you can just add effects to individual loops in Sound Forge and then bring them back into ACID. You can purchase ACID Music 2.0 and Sound Forge XP online for less than the $100 that Sonic Foundry sells it direct. Hope that helps... This is not a feature that I have used too often, but it does come in handy if "something just isn't right" with the sound. Midi sync is a very handy feature as well, although I rarely use it in Acid, prefering instead to record midi synced audio in Vegas Pro. One major difference between the two versions is support for assignable outputs on full-duplex soundcards with multiple outs. This is a feature that I absolutely could not live without at times as I often prefer to send the whole track through my external analog mixer to warm up the sound and then record to MD.
