Subject:More Loops????

Is there any more Drum, Bass and Keyboard loops available for Acid 2.0?? I like the selection in Acid 2.0 but need more Drum & Bass patterns, especially ballad or soft rock styles. Anything out there that an be downloaded? Thanks! Angel |

Try making your own loops. Ditch the store boughts. Hi Tad, Yes..I would do that as well, but there's only a limited wave samples on the drums, they should have sampled every drum piece individually so we can indeed start from scratch making a loop. Acid programmers, should look into making single, snare, hi-hit, bass drum, crashes and tom toms as individual samples, so we're not limited as much to the combo waves that are in Acid 2.0. I recommend ripping loops from Cds you alredy have and trimming them up, and soft synths like Rebirth are great for making loops. Did you look at the loop libraries we offer? We cover a lot of ground and areas here. You can also use just about any audio file for a loop in ACID. You will have to "Acidize it" but Forge of ForgeXP 4.5 will help you with this as it supports tools for easy ACID loop creation/editing. Hey, tad! Yeah, making your own loops is plenty of fun - but it costs lots of time if you're going to put together a decent collection of good loops. Angel, do what I do - buy loads of collections, all kinds, all makes, and use the few loops on them that suit what you're doing. As to there not being any good loops out there, that's crap. There are plenty. I own a huge collection, about 30000 loops. Yeah, 30 thousand, and about 5000 of them are usable for my means. That means, as far as I'm concerned, that it's been money well spent, since I have 5000 loops I can really use! I just ignore the other 25000. Imagine making 5000 decent loops yourself - that's, oh, 3 years of work? Unless you're 19, got no job or family to waste your time, a huge collection of esoteric instruments & keyboards and lotsa money. If I buy a loop collection for $20 and it has nine or ten really, really good loops on it, I'm pleased. That's still only a couple of bucks per loop. So, what the hell. You can look for old versions of the Acid series - Acid DJ, Acid Rock, Acid Music, Acid, all in ver 1.0 (I don't know which one you have) cheap now that 2.0 has been released. All have unique loops, no duplicates - and exactly the same loops as the 2.0 version of each respective variation of Acid. The 'Loops for Acid' collections are great (I have 6) at $60 or so. But there are also other makes. Like the Magix loops which are not acidised but mostly work fine without editing - unless they're very fast, 160 bpm and up such as Jungle and Drum 'n' Bass loops. Then they need acidising. Magix have a series of about 25 cd's called 'Magix SoundPool' costing about 20 bucks each, with 500-1000 loops on each cd. Also, Best Service have the 'Elements' series, about 30 bucks each Creative Essentials is another series of about 40 cd's, not quite as usable as the others, but sometimes interesting. And there are the music magazines - the UK magazines Mix, Computer Music and a few others have some very nice cover cd's. Check back issues. Sometimes up to 1000 loops. Or you can buy audio samples cd's and record to the PC, but that's a bit more work, getting the loop points right and such. Depends on how patient you are. And whether you have a good wave editing app. Best of luck! Well, I've owned Acid pro 2.0 since xmas '99 and so far I've made about 100 loops. I think the comments are right though. I've spent a few sessions of 10 or more non-stop hours doing it. So far the best investment of time I've made is going to a friends house who is a drummer, seting up the mics on his drums and taking sound samples from each individual piece and then some drum beats which I can break down into different sections etc. That was about a 6 hour session not including the work I did after with it. buying loop disks is definetly faster but I find it more satisfying to make my own. One thing I've done so far is I dug up a 5 disk collection of sound effects I bought about 6 years ago, it has all sorts of weird stuff from engines revving to modem sounds to screams. it's worked out in some of my more "weird" stuff |
