V8a - Bizarre 3D Track Motion behaviour

TeeJay wrote on 10/22/2007, 6:29 AM
Didn't notice this in V8, but i have just started a project that currently has 3 video tracks. 1 & 2 are Protype Text objects/events and track 3 is a simple still image background (jpeg). I enabled 3D Track Motion on track 3 so i could rotate the background on its Z axis, except as soon as i enable it, the BG disappears from the preview and is replaced with an alias of the text object on track 1.
I have no idea what is going on... I've been using Vegas since V4 and NEVER witnessed such strange behaviour... Can anyone replicate this?

3D track motion and HDV 32 bit rendering seem to be the two things that are seriously screwed up in Vegas 8. I can not make anything happen with either of these in a moderately complicated time line.

I can't replicate this. I used tracks 1 & 2 for ProType text and Track 3 is a jpeg.
I can use 3D track motion on Track 3 without a problem including rotation of the Z axis.
I'm using 8.0A under Vista64

32-bit messes with 3d track motion. work around: use Satish's pluginpac: http://www.debugmode.com/

i've only had issues with 3d track motion in 32-bit, 8-bit seems to work just fine.

Yep, you're right, 8bit does work fine.

I would hope that this is fixed in 8b though, i don't see why i should need a 3rd party plugin for a workaround.....

>>32-bit messes with 3d track motion<<

Confirmed. I was using 8 bit. 32 bit creates the problem and if you switch back to 8 bit it toggles the problem off. Same probelm with a single video track. 3D track motion just doesn't seem to work with 32 bit turned on.

If 32 bit is important for the rest of the project, one workaround is to create the 3D sections in 8 bit and render those out to sections for use in the 32 bit timeline.

neither do i, but many say the plugin is actually faster too. :)

Sony already knows about this. I kept the support ticket alive until I got a responce saying they knew about it. :D
