downloading audio from DVD

Hi-
I am trying to download audio only from a DVD movie to my PC so I can later add the audio to a video project.

It is a famous quote from a movie that I want to use as part of my home movie (my video with the audio from the movie).

Does anyone here know how to do this, or if this is even possible? I have tried to download from my internet downloader that I normally use, (that I pay for) but it can't find the quote I'm looking for.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you - I did google search. Do you know if this is something you have to pay for, or is it a simple download for my computer. I was confused when I started searching.
Thank you so much !

there are freeware, trialware and commercial solutions that will do as you desire. I will dig out my software that I have used in the past, and update here with more info later.

VMS has this feature built-in (at least v7 does). Go to the file menu, Import, From camcorder DVD.
HTH.

Andy-
I found what you are talking about in VS7. Do I just put a DVD in my computer to download the audio? Also will it download the entire movie or is there a way I can only import a part of it?
Thanks in advance.

It will copy the whole DVD, broken up by chapters. Pick the chapter you want, load it into the trimmer, select the audio portion you want, and drop it onto your timeline.

If all you want to do is record audio only from a DVD, you don't need anything other than what you already have: A DVD-ROM and VMS. There's no need to extract an entire DVD's audio and video just for a short clip.

• First, set your soundcard's recording input to "What U Hear"

• In the VMS project window, arm the audio track where you want the clip (the little red button that looks like a target). You'll see a VU meter appear in the track's header.

• Put in the DVD you want to use and cue up the section you want to record using whatever mediaplayer you normally use.

• Click the PLAY button in the VMS toolbar and VMS will begin recording live. Start playback of the DVD.

• Stop VMS and the DVD when you've got your clip (you should see it in VMS timeline if you did everything correctly.

That's about it.
