Is it possible to rerecord a midi parameter live - modulation, say - over an existing midi track with out re recording the midi notes?

Yep. Two ways:

- Turn on "MIDI Merge" mode when in recording mode
- Use normal automation recording mode with the appropriate control fader on the MIDI track set up for the parameter you wish to record.
