Hello all I'm thinking of purchasing acid pro 2.0. I'm
wondering about a couple of things. First of all can you
get really creative by highligting certain parts of sample
lets say a drum sample, then cuting out like one beat then
insert it at whatever value you desire? On the one then
the three etc. I'm thinking you can possibly create poly
rythems like this. And also get a "realistic" feel to the
drumming. Secondly, I was reading an artical in "Home
Recorder" the other day and there was this midi drum
sampler played by all real session musicians. I was
wondering if this midi platform can offer any advantages
over acid. Or possibly you could use this program in
combonation with Acid. Thanks for your help.. Dave

Yo, Dave!

Yeah, you can cut out bits and use them as you like. Stretch them,
pitch them, trim them....
The big difference between Acid and Midi drums is real drums played by
real drummers versus midi drums. It's that simple.
Mind you, midi drums can sound pretty good these days - a really good
Alesis drum module for instance, paired up with Paul Kodish
breakbeat midi sequences from Twiddly Bits....
Each side has its good points.
I use both.
And you can sync them, up to a point - SF admits it still has probs
with sync in Acid Pro, even in 2.0.
But if you're really careful, and set it up right, it'll run OK - I do
it along with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and it seems to work.
Which 'midi drum sampler' do you mean, incidentally?
