Subject:Serious Crashing Problems on ACID Pro 2.0

I have recently purchased a copy of this software and am
having some serious problems with it.

I can create a or edit a track with no problem, however if
I play it and then try to edit it afterwards the PC either
just shuts-down or produces a variety of error messages.

Some of my error messages . . .

INVALID INSTRUCTION ERROR
GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT
FATAL EXCEPTION ERROR
INVALID PAGE FAULT
DIVIDE ERROR
STACK OVERFLOW
ILLEGAL OPPERATION

In general this PC is very stable and has no trouble
running a variety of other softwares including Office 2000
and SAWPro (IQS).

I have tried all the obvious tweaks and twiddles icluding a
clean install of both ACID and Windows but have been unable
to sort the problem out.

Here is the spec. of my machine.

Pii 266 Del XPS Notebook
80 Mb RAM, 6.4 Gb Hard Disk.
NeoMagic Video Adapter and Crystal Sound Card
Hewlett Packard M820 CDR/W PCMCIA SCSI
D-Link PCMCIA Modem
Running Windows 98 Second Edition.

PLEASE HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP !!!!!!

Please can you send any ideas you may have to my email
address lgarfirth@aol.com

Well I have sorted the problem out, it turns out that ACID is dead
fussy about the Sound-Card and gets really upset if it doesn't like
what it finds.

I have just built a brand new PC based on a Piii 550, with 128Mb RAM,
27.5 Gb UDMA66 Hard Disk with Windows 98 SE. After several attempts
I have now discovered that you are much better of with a good low
grade Sound-Card like a SB16 or a professional card if you need 24bit
sound, but to stay away from cards like the SB128 Live.

Thanks to all the help from the Technical Team in the UK.
