Subject:ACID has one problem...

When does ACID come out on a functional operating system?
I've about had it with rebooting 3 times a day and
fresh-reinstalls every few weeks. I'm going to Linux and
Beos on My Three Systems... while I love the ACID interface,
I'd rather not have to put up with lousy MS software.

How about it, guys? Linux, the fast-growing and _stable_
OS, or perhaps BeOS, the "multimedia" OS?

Oh, come off it Chad! Bill Gates-bashing is a real boring pastime.
Ho-hum boring.

I do Win98 and Acid and it NEVER hangs on me, never.
I did it with Win95 before and that was just as stable.
I've run Cakewalk Pro Audio, Surreal and Acid Pro all at once without
a hitch.

So you think Linux is stability heaven? Ha ha!

You're not trying to run anything from Steinberg at the same time,
are you? That'll kill you every time. Apps actually written for
Windows (Sonic Foundry, Cakewalk, etc.) actually work pretty well
under Windows. Just my experience.

The only two problems I've had are when I get the Illegal Operatio-
will be shut down. This happens when I'm using Express Effects. As a
matter of fact it happens quite often.

The only problems I've had are Illegal Operation-Program Will Be Shut
Down. With the message:

SFACID caused an exception 10H in module SFXPFX1.DLL at 0137:02d0b24b

This happens too often when I use Express Effects, so often that I'm
reluctant to use Express Effects. I sure wish I knew what causes this.

Subject:Linux and available Audio Toolsets

You guys can't tell me you don't know that there are Linux Audio
users! That is the field you are in audio applications design which
is a realtively small field. Go to www.freshmeat.net and search for
"audio". You must be aware that someone is going to eventually make
Acid for linux. Only _they_ will couple all controls to an API that
can be called from any compiled or interpereted language and call it
plAcid or some such ridiculousness.

Why don't you just do it and:
1) Beat them to it (you already have 70% of the work done by running
under NT) that way you can profit from your incredable innovation.
2) gain a huge following: nobody else will commit to this OS in
this market. Its yours, go get it.

Imagine if a sophisticated user could build a Tk inteface controling
the Acid engine. Steaming in live sound and video from any source to
bring a new meaning to the concept of a live show or an installation.
The possibilities are finite but magnificent.

I am sure you could get a small team of interns cheap who want your
name on their resumes and something cool to do this summer. If
nothing else you will learn waht is being done in the Linux arena.
