Subject:Play Event from Middle of the event in Acid 1.0?

This is a tough one to put in 1 sentence.

Let's say you're using Acid 1.0 and you have an event that
is 8 seconds long. The event starts on a beat and has a
total of 8 beats. I draw the event making it appear 4 times
on my screen to make 32 beats. Perfect. Now I decide that
I only want 31 beats...so I go to the end, and drag back a
tad to play only 31 beats. Cool. But, what if I wanted to
START the entire event on the 2nd or 3rd beat? I can't drag
the beginning to the right to kill the first 2 beats. All I
can do is push the event further down the timeline.

So what I am trying to do is the the same as the
technique of dragging the end a bit closer. I want to start
the event on the 2nd beat. This technique would be used,
say, if on the 1st beat of the event there is a vocalist's
scream, but the scream is done by the time the 3rd beat is
hit. Thus, if I wanted to start the beginning of my project
without that scream, I can't.

The workaround I do is to open up SF, cut out the first beat
or 2 and paste it at the end of the .wav. Then save the wav
as another name, then use that new .wav as a new event in
Acid. It works fine, but this can be tedious over time for
someone like me who wishes to make a 12 minute medley. And
of course, takes up more space on the hard drive as I begin
to duplicate the files just so I can start them at different
points in the file.

Any ideas or is this a feature for a "wish list"? Or is it
available in 2.0?

No problem to do this. (Lots of different ways.)

Method one:

Use the erase tool. This will let you erase whatever you want.

Alternate way:
- Place the cursor where you want to with in the sample/loop.
- Hit the S key. The event/loop will be cut at that point.
- Select the portion you don't want. Hit the delete key.

Another way to do this is to select your loop, then hold down both
mouse buttons, while you drag it left or right. This will slide the
loop around while leaving the beginning and end points right where
you left them on the timeline. I know this works in ACID Pro 1.0, but
I'm not sure about the other flavors. Hope this helps you.

Yet another way...select your event, and click on the "Properties"
tab. Next click on the "Event" tab in the Properties window. From
here you can adjust the "Start offset (samples)". This is actually
the long way to do what "The_Thump" suggests, but has the advantage
of allowing you to specify the exact spot (in samples) at which you
want the event to begin. If you want to trust your ears, The_Thump's
way is faster (and the way I usually do it in practice). These
techniques are available on every ACID 2.0 flavor, and (I think) on
all 1.0 as well.
