When I record new sounds while listening to previously recorded tracks I can hear the previously recorded tracks in the new sound when it is played by itself. How can I isolate and record only the new sound and still monitor existing tracks? My sound card is Creative Ensoniq PCI ES1371. It happens with Mic and Line-in. Is anyone using a sound card where this does not happen? Which one should I buy??? Thanks. :-) |

The sound card has to operate in "full duplex" mode in order to record a separate file while playing back. I'm not sure if that card is full duplex or not, but some of the SoundBlaster type cards have an option in the control panel which lets you check or uncheck "Full duplex operation", or something to that effect. Look up the ES1371 under "Sound video and Game controllers" in Control Panel/ System, and make sure that option is on if it's there. Otherwise, you might have to get a newer driver, or just a newer sound card.
