Subject:Recording new sounds

When I record new sounds while listening to previously
recorded tracks I can hear the previously recorded tracks in
the new sound when it is played by itself. How can I
isolate and record only the new sound and still
monitor existing tracks? My sound card is Creative
Ensoniq PCI ES1371. Thanks.
