Hello to all, I'm new to ACID and new to this forum. I just wanted to write on a rewritable cd and ACID wont do it. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help on this (stupid) question. |

ACID probably won't erase the disc if there's something already on it. Use whatever burning software came with your computer or CD writer to erase/format the disc. Then ACID should use it happily. |

Going by Music Studio 7, then Acid should see "Erase RW disc before burning". Silly question - but are you putting the disc in the correct drive - my Acid remains greyed out until the disc is in the right drive. (A thought springs to mind incase the disc has been finalised to look like a read-only disc.) If you get no joy - then go with Kelly's suggestion of a burning software to erase the disc. Ken |

Thank you both for the info. I took a new CD RW and now ACID tells me there is not enough space on the cd, as I'm doing a test I put only about 3 minutes of audio on the tracks. What am I going wrong here? PS: When I take a CD-R Acid does the job without any problem. Message last edited on10/2/2007 11:05:07 AM bynewbe. |

Just a guess, but for CD-RW discs, some software requires that the disc be formatted first. |

I'm still having problems with any CD-RW I use so i'll keep it simple and use CD-R. Thanks helping out. |

CD-RW discs are not recommended for serious audio work (even non-serious IMO). They have a high error rate and like you are experiencing, tend to be finicky. Its been years since I've used one and even then, it was only for data backup. |

You are so right, but when I experiment with a program I like to use them until I know it’s working OK, so I don’t have to waste CD’s. I’m old fashion that way. Thanks for the reply. |

"You are so right, but when I experiment with a program I like to use them until I know it’s working OK," From your own experience, this logic is flawed because the CD-RW is potentially a negative variable and therefore you cannot know for sure whether there's an issue with the program or the media until you try a decent CDR. Personally I use the same media I use for mastering (Taiyo Yunden silver) for virtually everything that requires a CDR. Why cut corners when this stuff is so affordable now? |

I have never seen Taiyo Yunden silver CD's over here in Belgium, but you are so right," Why cut corners when this stuff is so affordable now" I mostly use Verbatim CD's . Thanks. |
