Subject:acid pro 6.0 crashes alot

I have both of the latest updates for reason 3.0 and acid pro 6.0.
I am using windows XP. I am using acid as the master and reason as the slave. I am not using video.

When I move the zoom and scroll bars (vertical & Horizontal), to access different areas of the tracks while in play mode, it sets off the program to crash.

It also seems to crash while in play mode, when there isn't enough grid space on the screen and I am adding additional midi notes or extending a loop on a track.

I have checked the system requirements and meet all of what is required to run the programs

Thank you for responding, I don't know what to do.

Maybe I shouldn't be moving things while in play mode. lol

I've seen this happen with other programs because of video driver issues.
Check to make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card.
If you do already have them, try re-installing them (and like any other piece of software, do this with your Anti-Virus off).

Good luck
Anthony

When I read your post, the first thing I thought of was video card or something to do with video. It may not be the problem, but it is the most logical area. So you probably want to start there.

thanks for responding I have updated the video drivers, but still crashing.

HELP!!! any other sugestions?

It is very frustrating... I get an error message that wants me to report it, or debug it.. then it crashes, sometimes I can save my work, sometimes I cannot.

not sure if this is the solution to your problem, but i once had a similar problem and it was because of a too low ASIO buffer setting of my soundcard (64 samples).... switched back to 256 and Acid is working much better, except for a few occassional crashes with some VST plugins it doesn´t like.

chezare,

How about posting your system specs. That may help us help you.

I'm not buying any of the explanations posted; this crashing has been going on since ACID crossed the line into Media Manager, etc. territory back on what...Acid 4.0? It's a little less often, but still there.

Everything's great until you get antsy to see something out of view, forget and use a scrollbar. Then...POOF! Send the error msg? Yes. (maybe if I keep doing it they'll fix it) Go to the recover file and see what you lost.

Anymore, I jack up the resolution beforehand so I see most or all of the project. I will resist the temptation to adjust the view until after I stop the project playback. That's how to keep from crashing until it is fixed.

It seems to me that Media Manager is the problem., especially for me if I go into the genre mode in the search pane....crash
Fatal Exception:details:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at Sony.MediaSoftware.MediaMgr.UI. etc., etc.

Total waste

Right; when it became more capable (read complex) that's when the crashing started. Not even invoking MM whatsoever, I can crash at will bt touching a scrollbar.

Hope it gets solved soon because when you have 24+ tracks to watch, human nature makes you want to scroll up and down.

I've just uninstalled Media Manager 2.2, and I hope this will help. I've been crashing AP 6.0d too much, and especially with MM open...the genre page a major problem.

Glad to see another user point out this defect.

Would be a great feature if it worked well. Is the MS SQL the problem. Anyone use MM successfully?

Thanks, Din (thought I posted yesterday, but I'll try this again).

Much smoother operation without Media Manager and MS_SQL...maybe I could have just disabled it in preferences, but if I can't use it, why keep it? I'll just arrange the Favorites page in Explorer to show my loops and best samples.

If AP 7 is forthcoming, let's see a solid database integration, eh?

Let's hope it has some enhancements designed for musicians rather than kids. I remember the awful AP5 release with it's bag of irrelevant garbage. I think they rescued the app form the brink of oblivion with the AP6 release.
