Subject:12/8 and 3/4

No one answered my last post so I guess Acid does not allow
you set time signatures - thanks for the kind reply. - any
plan to be able to do this in the future??

I also noticed noone responded to you. I think you're right, I've
been trying to figure out a way to do that as well, and so far noway
to actually change signature...having said that, I've got the Drum
tools CD - they've got some 6/8 loops which helped me figure out that
it can be done sort of ..it's a fake of course ...You have to have
your loops start every third beat ...for the snap to it's trickier
from 4/4 there's no snap to value divisible by 3 - so you rely on the
existing beat values - just set them up for 3 beat loops. Other than
that, well, we'll have to wait and see if it's added at some time.

My production partner has the same complaint. He's very fond of
triplets and mixed beat patterns, and ends up simply making full loops
in Sound Forge instead of sequencing individual beats in Acid.

Acid's user interface divides a quarternote (one beat) into 32 parts,
which is a number that doesn't divide evenly by three. But there is
hope - the Acid File Format stores the timing resolution in 768 parts
per quarternote, and that number is divisible by three.

Funny how still no one replies from Sonic Foundry - i just did a song
with both 12/8 and 3/4 feel but had to put everything over 1 and build
my own drum parts from isolated parts. Made most of the loops in all
Sonic Foundry's loop libraries nearly useless to me. Had to make a
bunch of one shots that are pretty large as well - especailly through
transisitons between sections - had to turn "snap to" off for the
whole project - anyway - I'm with you - hope they add this
functionality at some point.

Hopefully they hear us even if they do not reply. If they can
increase the user interface's resolution to 48 in the next (3.0 I
suppose) version then we'll have eighth and quarternote triplets.
