I'm a newbie and I'm trying to figure out how I can assign sounds from my drum kits in Battery 3 to the Akai MPD16 and use acid pro 4 as my sequencer. I have already saved the drum kits in Battery 3 but I do not know how to assign the sounds to my mpd16 nor do I know what to do next in Acid Pro 4. The manual isnt clear enough for me. Please help, I'm new to midi.

I don't have an Akai MPD16 or Battery 3 so I can't give you specific instructions but I can tell you in general how it is supposed to work. The Akai MPD16 is just like a MIDI keyboard controller in that it sends a MIDI note message when you hit a pad. You either have to program the MPD16 to send the notes that Battery 3 is expecting or you have to get Battery 3 to respond to the same MIDI note that the MPD16 is sending in order to play the drum sample.

Unless someone else on this forum has an MPD16, I'm afraid you will have to read the Akai MPD16 manual to see how this is done. From poking around the internet just now, it looks like the MPD16 comes with a software utility to program the notes that the pads send. If not, perhaps Battery 3 has a "learn" mode where it allows you to assign the correct MIDI note to a sound.
