Recording problem with Onyx Firewire -ACID Product Family

I've been experimenting with some routing ideas and wanted to try using the converters in my Onyx Satillite unit as opposed to my Layla 24. Of course to do this I have to select the WDM drivers as ASIO only allows for one or the other. So I do this and set default to record via the onyx - playback via the Layla (I'm routing 16 analog outs to a console). Everything "looks" fine, ie; I have signal showing in the record meters but when I hit record, the cursor moves across the timeline but Acid does not record anything. I get nothing - there's no waveform at all. I tried the exact same process in Vegas 7 and it worked fine. Any idea of why Acid is not recording with this configuration? Thanks.
