Subject:How do i acidize a .wav?

How do i make a wav so that it is compatible with acid? i
get a message that says acid doesn't support it, but it is a
wav.

What is the source of the wave file?
What are the wave files properties - sample rate, bit depth.

What is the exact msg that you get from ACID?

sample rate and bit depth are new terms to me, i have no clue

as in wher it is on my computer? C:\windows\desktop\loops\011_140.wav

The file is an unsupported format. Acid does not support compress file
types

So, how do i uncompress it? is what i should have asked.

Hi Nick,

The problem is more likely that your wave file has become corrupted or
an error occurred when it was last saved.

If I remember correctly that message can be triggered when the total
chunk lengths of the file do not actually equal the total file length
(and that can only be fixed with a hex editor and a good knowledge of
the wave file format).

Does the file play back correctly in Windows or in another application
like Sound Forge? If not, then it is surely corrupted.

Nick,
As a programmer, I have always been of the mindset that one should
use tools from the same manufacturer - this insures that there is
compatibility with different version and types of software that a
company such as Sonic Foundry offers. I highly reccommend the
investment in Sound Forge XP 4.5 - I have had great success creating
my own wav file from electric, acoustic guitars, voice, and
synthesizer.

The file plays fine in windows, but doesn't open in the evaluation
version of wavesurgeon. I found in properties that it is a 4 bit wav
which i think i was asked before.

any further knowledge?

I did a little checking and confirmed that Windows wave/media players
apparently tolerate files that report their chunk sizes incorrectly.

If you have Sound Forge 4.5 it will detect and fix some errors of that
type for you after confirming you want to do it. I'm guessing since
you used WaveSurgeon you don't.

If you want (and the file is less than 2 megs in size), you can e-mail
it to me at haist001@mc.duke.edu and I will take a peek at it and see
if I can find the problem and fix it for you.
