Subject:Playback and live recordings bleed together

I am having an impossible time figuring out how to keep my
tracks seperate from each other. Whenever I try to record
a live track played along to a looping track I end up with
the looping tracks contents recorded onto the track that I
am playing live. My soundcard has the ability to playback
and record at the same time but I can't figure out how I
can end up with two seperate tracks instead of one
megatrack . I would really appreciate any advice, Thanks

Its possible that you are inadvertently rerouting your sound card's
output back into the input side. Since you are monitoring the
playback while recording the new material, check to be sure your
signal path going back into the sound card does not include the sound
card output.
