Is it possible to mute a part in a loop?
For example I want to play only a middle part of a loop,
or mute a middle part of a loop

You switch to the envelope tool and draw the volume changes you want
to make. If you need to do that for every occurrence of the loop,
then you would probably want to export a single occurrence of the
loop, change it in a sound editing program with fades (like Vegas or
Sound Forge) and import it back into Acid. Then every occurrence of
the loop will be the same.

I thought that there was an option to select and area on the
event track and mute it without changing the wav file,
Using the envelope tool can produce a confusing zig-zag line,
later envelope changes can become a real nightmare.

thanks,
Alex

you could use the ENVELOPE feature for volume to mute out the section
you don't want to hear but the mute won't loop.(you have to keep
doing it for everytime it loops.) Or you could edit the loop in
Soundforge or the like to take out the sound you don't want permantly.

Why not just use the 'erase' tool to erase the beginning/end of the loop. You can change the 'snap to'
editing settings so that you can erase only 1/64th of a part. Then just copy & paste...

If you want to create a new loop from the original with parts missing, just edit the loop as above (or below), then
select the current track to be 'solo', set start/end loop points to the start/end of the loop you want to create,
then 'save as mixed wav file' from the file menu (making sure you set the track volume to it's max without
clipping, or you'll get a really quite loop - check the bars next to the main volume control).
You'll now have a new loop to import into all your lovely tunes....

Did that make any sense? :-P

You can also use the offset feature to start playing the loop at a
certain part, for example, 4 seconds into it--this is only really
useful if you're trying to get part of the loop to "not play" and use
the rest of it....get it?
