This is my first post in the Acid forum. I do a LOT of video work and all I really want to do Acid-wise is generate musical *accents.* Adding accents to other music. I have done this before with good success with some misc. elements I have obtained from friends. In other words, the occasional cymbal roll, chines, pretty small-bit parts. I am looking to do this in primarily orchestral scores. That is all I want. 1.) Would Acid be good for that? The cost is not an issue with me. Just trying to get the job done. 2.) Is therre a list anywhere of precisely what instruments are included with Acid? Example: Are there chimes? Cymbals? I know a guy who has a program from years ago; Roland something or another. When I sought to buy it, it was long ago discontinued. May seem like a weird question, but that's what I am seeking to do. Any input here would be welcome. Thanks! |

1) Acid is actually great for that. Vegas could also work well though the acid loop handling is not that great in comparison. Plus you get to use vsti's using midi. 2)They advertise that you get over a thousand loops when acid is purchased but I don't know off hand what they include. There is a orchestral cd pack that I think is amazing. https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/shopping/item.asp?PID=327&cid=19&disp=1 https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/shopping/item.asp?PID=95&cid=2&disp=1 https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/shopping/item.asp?PID=96&cid=2&disp=1 https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/shopping/item.asp?PID=97&cid=2&disp=1 https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/shopping/item.asp?PID=98&cid=2&disp=1 These are all really good. Technically speaking, ACID includes no sounds at all. It will use just about any sounds you want to throw at it though. Think of it this way ... ACID is the canvas, not the paint. However, as Ed pointed out, if you purchase the boxed version of ACID you will get a CD chock-full of freebie sounds. Then you can go shopping for other sounds as well, or even record your own. Sounds like for what you're doing you don't really need 'acidized' loops so much as one-shots, and you can use most any audio file type for that. |
