AVI file problem

when I try to upload AVI file it just uploads audio if I try to play it the program does not respond, I tried to download several codecs like Divx, Xvid... but no luck , I also reinstalled Vegas 7.0e and I downloaded Vegas 8.0 trial version -but no luck again, enybody with an idea what to do?

you're on the right track. what codec was the file encoded with? once you know this, you can get the right codec. note that avi is not a codec, just a container for many different codecs.

How do you know what codec was used I know that the files I have can be played by Divx player. I have that codec but Vegas 7 still will not play th files Inspite that I have already enabled "play 3rd party codecs" in Vegas options!?

Gspot is a good idea -- but if your AVI's are MPEG-4 which Vegas will not handle, then converting the files is the best idea...
