Subject:MTC sync very buggy?

I'm really hot to purchase Acid Pro. I've got a "hacked copy" that I have been trying out, and when I'm convinced that I can use this tool in a professional manner, I am ready to purchase it, so i can enjoy all the documentation, and updates that a user should have access to. I have a problem with the MTC. I'm using "Loopback" to slave Acid to Logic. That setup, I beleive is correct. I have been successfully syncing Cool Edit Pro and Rebirth, and Fruityloops in this manner. Even though the Acid's little clock is showing the correct timecode (when in that mode), and I got the correct offset in the "preferences-sync section", Acid is always about 15 frames off. Also, I've found that if I move Logic's song position way up and start the playback, Acid start's from the top again, even though the "little clock incoming time code" reads the correct time code. Also, if I make Acid the master, and generate MTC, at the top of the piece the out going code reads what ever the offset is set to, but if I move the cursor up a couple of beats, the outgoing code goes forward by minutes. This whole "sync thing" is completely unusable. At least in this "hacked" version. One other issue is the fact that there is no way to do odd time signatures. Odd time signatures is probably not a problem with "the rappers", but in the music I do, it comes up often. I'm ready to buy this product and get legal, but I need to know if these problems exist in the store bought versions. Thanks so much, David Floyd |

Jeez, a hack that dosn't work properly! I never heard of such a thing!....Hello David, anybody home? Come on man, think!...download the 'legal' demo from this site and then come back and bitch. One more thing David, it's not too smart to post about a stolen app on the manufacturers site...just a tip. David Floyd wrote: >> I'm really hot to purchase Acid Pro. I would suggest trying to use two computers. The whole sync thing, especially with Logic, can be incredibly resource intensive. See if you can borrow a computer if you don't have a second one and see if it works. |

David, I bought the full Pro-version and it seems to be a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! You are absolutely right that MTC sync is buggy. It's impossible to sync Acid properly to incoming MTC. I got sync variation of +/- 80ms!!! Not just a delay, because you could compensate for that. What I mean is that sometimes ACID is 20ms ahead, the next time it is 60ms back. Very useful! Sometime you must be glad that it will play anyway, because although you see incoming MTC running (in the top left field) it won't play. The only cure is a restart, or sometime if you press play and stop, which gets a little bit annoying if you gotta do that every time you press play on your sequencer. I tried to sync it external to an Apple Mac AND internal on the PC. The problem always remains the same. I got a PentiumII 350 with Creamware/Pulsar, 260MB RAM. It really is a shame, because ACID is such a good program, but unusable for the professionals because we need to sync it to a sequencer and/or tape machine. Without proper sync I'm afraid it's just a nice toy..... Cheers, Steve Rhodes rme London UK David Floyd wrote: >> I'm really hot to purchase Acid Pro. If you 'Pros' are using hacked versions, why the f*** should Sf bother to spend time & effort fulfilling your requirements? Why not do your tempo matching manually (if your a pro you've got plenty of time to do it) and leave Acid for those who do music for love, not money. It's always the Pros who whinge on about "putting a few loops together on a computer is not proper music" anyway, so you shouldn't be cheating by using this 'toy' anyway. Or maybe the Pros are just conning us and will say anything to maintain their privileged position and not have to do 'proper' jobs? |

What are you talking about Brian? What "pros" are using hacked versions? The person who complained stated they bought the retail version. You should read before you rant. As it is, you just wind up looking stupid. So what if the product doesn't work well with syncing to MTC? I'd like to know that before I waste a lot of time on it. If its not important to you, that's fine. brian wrote: >>If you 'Pros' are using hacked versions, why the f*** should Sf bother to spend time & effort fulfilling your requirements? >> >>Why not do your tempo matching manually (if your a pro you've got plenty of time to do it) and leave Acid for those who do >>music for love, not money. >> >>It's always the Pros who whinge on about "putting a few loops together on a computer is not proper music" anyway, so you >>shouldn't be cheating by using this 'toy' anyway. Brian, I f@cking payed the full price for the Acid pro version! And how the f@ck do you want to match the tempo manually if Acid does something different every time you try to lock it to MTC? When I'm saying I consider myself as a pro I mean I try to make a living of making music and I don't wanna spend money on tools that don't work! If you read my earlier post better, you would have noticed that I bought ACID instead of using cracks. BTW you just wasting bandwith with your useless comments, because your post was no help at all to get ACID working. THANKS! brian wrote: >>If you 'Pros' are using hacked versions, why the f*** should Sf bother to spend time & effort fulfilling your requirements? >> >>Why not do your tempo matching manually (if your a pro you've got plenty of time to do it) and leave Acid for those who do >>music for love, not money. >> >>It's always the Pros who whinge on about "putting a few loops together on a computer is not proper music" anyway, so you >>shouldn't be cheating by using this 'toy' anyway. It has been brought to our attention that there are problems with the MTC chase. We are aware of it and it will be addressed in an update in the future.
