ACID Style Registration & mp3 support -ACID Product Family

Subject:ACID Style Registration & mp3 support Posted by: KeyLargo Date:7/7/1999 12:30:00 AM I've just purchased ACID Style bundled w/ SFxp4.5 because there was a sticker that indicated it supported mp3 audio. Registration of SFxp was simple enough, however, there is no selection for ACID Style in your product drop-down menu. In browsing, I've found an update that claims it is a plug- in demo that will permit encoding 10 files in mp3 format, after which it is necessary to purchase the plug-in for $19.95. Unfortunately, this is not revealed on the packaging nor the sticker. Have I stumbled into information that is incorrect, or will I be coerced into an additional purchase? Having already purchased SFxp4.5 prior to this, and preferring to work with regular Multi-track Digital Audio rather than loop form, my reason for the $60 purchase was for the mp3 support in the first place. The package purchased was for "Audio Anywhere", which I had not seen prior to today. Is the package/bundle just "so new" that this website hasn't been updated with support for this item at this time?

When I bought the downloadable version of SF XP 4.5b (build 269), your Web site stated that it included mp3 support (in fact that was one of the main reasons I bought from you). Then I installed and no mp3 support. So I came back and after searching your site for about 1/2 hr, came upon this: "The Sound Forge XP 4.5c update [08/23/99] includes all of the features of version 4.5b, plus multiple bit rate encoding for Microsoft .ASF files, support for Microsoft's new MS Audio codec, and .MP3 file open support. (Save as .MP3 support is also available with optional Sonic Foundry MP3 Plug-In.)" If I have to buy the update the day I buy the software, isn't that taking the built-in obsolescence thing a bit far? Why not let people download the most up-to-date (6MB!) version, instead of having to download a large file twice?!! And also... I did my damnedest to find the "optional Sonic Foundry MP3 Plug-In". Couldn't find it. What gives? And please don't send me to the Sales Dept. I just want an answer.
