Subject:UAD Plugins Not Working

I've recently upgraded to SF9c and now my UAD Pluggins no longer work when I attempt to process the selection. I get an error message err=3 out of memory. Everything works just fine in SF8.0 version but not in SF9.0c. I uninstalled the SF 9.0 and reinstalled, then I also reinstalled the latest version of UAD software as well. Still have the same problem. Any suggestions?

I've seen posts of someone else having problems with UAD before. I can't be anymore helpful beyond that I'm sorry to say. I don't know if they got resolved or not for them.

It appears the newest version of UAD has issues with us re-setting the block size to something larger for processing. I’m still experimenting with the best way to fix this, but here’s a temporary workaround.

1) Hold down Ctrl+Shift while selecting Options->Preferences
2) Select the “Internal” tab
3) Type in “sfaudstrm” in the edit box at the bottom
4) Find the entry labeled “Default SfAudStrm read size”
5) Change the Value cell to (sample rate * number of channels * 4 / 10), this is 35280 for stereo 44.1 kHz files
6) Tab or click away from the cell to commit the value, then click OK
7) Restart Forge

This seems to do the trick for everything I have authorized. There may be a small performance hit to processing time, but it shouldn’t be very noticeable.

I'm investigating another issue where the plug-in instance that is processing can crash in hypgui.dll if it starts processing while another instance is shutting down (they should be independent of each other). This should only be an issue on some multi-proc machines, but if you run into it, you can use the Plug-in Chainer to work around it.

Addendum: the default buffer size mentioned in #5 above can probably be a bit bigger (depending on the effect), but you'll likely want to keep it on the order of a few seconds or less (seconds * rate * channels * 4).

This solution worked, but I guess I'm wondering does this mean SF 9.0 isn't an actual upgrade from 8.0 in the case of UAD plugins? It's working so I appreciate the fix but I'm wondering if I'm gaining any actual increased plugin performance with this version?
Thanks

I have same exact problem. when I try and render a UAD plug-in I get a err-3. So how big should we make it when we are working with audio that is 24 bit 48Hz? I put 4,440,000 in and it looks like it is rendering it (I still ge the same err-3 error as well. Except nothing is rendered. Audio is still the same.

Not only that but when I use T-Racks plugins by IK Multimedia it WILL render but the volume goes dramtically up and down. :(

I can use Soundforge 9 at all. I can't master songs. I am screwed.

For 48 kHz stereo, use 38400.
