Subject:project tempo

how do i get a sample that has been recorded to the project
tempo to maintain that project tempo once it has been
edited in audio editor and opened up back in ACID? I
realize that i am trimming information from the sample in
editor,but there must be a way for ACID to resample the
tempo.Changing the beat count does'nt really cut it(no pun
intended).any suggestions?
