i just recently bought acid ph1......although it's pretty
easy and user friendly, i'm still running into little
snags....like,when i try to record a loop i just created
onto a wav file the playback is real low and super noisy
and while i record it the soundwave barely
registers......anyone know what i might be doing wrong?

Hi Rich,

I just got ACID Pro and am still new to ACID but ACID may
not be the problem.

Try this:

1. Double click (not single click) on the little yellow
speaker icon in the Windows sys tray (usually at bottom
right of screen). This should bring up a little "mixer".

2. "Mute all" everything that you are not using (like CD
player, wav synth, whatever). Keep the "line in", "main" and
"wave balance" faders open (i.e. don't mute). Also, make
sure that these are all cranked up to the max volume.

3. Click on options then properties and select "recording"
and ok it. Un-select everything. You may need to
select the line-in if you're not getting a signal -
play with it (also, notice that it's not a "mute" function
here but a "select" function - just to add to the
confusion).

OK it and try recording your .wav! Additionally, make sure
that you're plugged into a line in (line level) if your
source is a mixer or an instrument. use the mic input for
(guess what?) microphones plugged directly into the card
(this is assuming you have a Soundblaster type of card).

For some reason, the Windows mixer (play control) introduces
a ton of noise when things aren't muted. I'd like to get rid
of it but it's a necessary evil. Once you get used to
switching around, it just becomes part of your working
process.

Good luck! --Timothy
