Subject:AAC support?

One of my co-workers just installed SF9. We don't seem to be able to open a 44 kHz 64 kbps AAC file. This isn't an M4A file; it's just the ADTS stream with an AAC extension. There's no copy protection or DRM on the file. In theory, we could probably find an AAC to MPEG-4 converter to put on the necessary headers, but if we're theoretically dealing with hundreds of files, this would be inconvenient. Is there a way we can just drag an AAC file into the SF9 window, just as we'd drag in an M4A or MP3 file? Thanks! |

Which version of QuickTime is installed? Can the QuickTime Player play the file? If so, then Forge should be able to open it. If not, a sample file would be helpful. J. |

Sorry for the delay in responding; last week was crazy, but I'm still interested in resolving this. :) The file opens and plays properly in Quicktime Player and WinAmp. I'm using Quicktime 7.2. When dragging the file into SoundForge, I get a blank waveform in the data window. The file only plays silence if I try to listen to it. If I try to open the file from the Open File... dialog box, I get the correct file characteristics (file type/format, length, sample rate) in the information box at the bottom of the form, but the Play button is disabled. If I try to open the file, I get the same thing as above. I'd be happy to send you a sample file, if you give me a destination e-mail address, FTP site, or some other target. Thanks! |

Just submit it via the tech support page here (there's a field that allows attachments at the bottom of the form) and mention this thread. It will get to the right people. Thanks, J. |
