I'm interested in recording my own loops at the best fidelity possible for my trusty P-200. Do I have to have a 24 bit sound card to playback 24 bit samples? If 24 bit is a bust for now, what's the cleanest way to get high quality loops into ACID? I have an AWE 64 sound card and I don't know whether I need to upgrade it to a SB Live! or Pinnacle Multisound or buy a dedicated DSP audio card like Darla or Gina, etc.. I still have to cough up $$$ for Mastering House and a CD-R, so I want to spend my $$$ wisely upgrading my computer. Thanks for your input. |

I wouldn't worry about 24 bit loops...that's complete overkill. By the time you do stretching and shifting, it's going to be moot. Depending on what you're recording, you may not need multi i/o...If your AWE is working out for you, then you're probably cool with it for a while. There are cleaner cards, but it sounds like you may need to invest your $$ in other places for now. You can certainly get a lot done on the AWE, then enjoy the increased fidelity of a new card later when it's a better time for you. -- Bruce A. I'm mainly interested in recording my guitars and bass by running a Sans Amp GT2 straight into my AWE64. I was mostly concerned about the AWE64's fidelity. I did spend too much time recording guitar parts on cassette multi-tracks that ended up being unusable and I wanted to bypass that wasted effort this time around. Thanks Bruce! |
