Most (maybe all) audio editing programs, like Sound Forge
and Cool Edit can record CDs through the audio cables
atached to the CDROM. However, It's much cleaner to extract
the audio digitaly with a "CD Ripper/Grabber". Sonic
Foundry's CD Architect has this capability.

You might want to check out www.maz-sound.com a great site
for music related share/freeware. They have a whole section
on CD Rippers. There is a freeware one called
ExactAudioCopy that I like quite a bit... and the price is
right too.
