Has anybody been able to sync those 2 puppies together solid ? I have tried several times with the VMR without success. I'm about to try again with Cubase 3.65 and Acid 1.0a. but if I could get precise instructions on how somebody managed to do it i.e. which program is the master the exact sync configuration and if audio is used on Cubase, it would be most helpful. |

There is a problem with Cubase and the VMR. I believe that others have used one of the other third party MIDI routers with success. You may want to contact support@sonicfoundry.com for futher assistance. Peter volkan wrote in message ... >Has anybody been able to sync those 2 puppies together solid ? Lets start again.... What is actually not working? How are you configuring things? Peter volkan wrote in message ... >Has anybody been able to sync those 2 puppies together solid ? Okay here's what I tried. Intsalled the VMR. Disabled audio in Cubase so ACID can playback (I use the Gina and I also have a SoundBlaster so I could use audio in Cubase as well if I really wanted) Since I want to add a sequence Cubase is the master. I go in Sync options and output sync out of Sonic Foundry Router 1. Then when I go in ACID to set MTC input port it says both SF VMR 1 and 2 are already in use ?? |

I've tried pretty much all possibilities but it still won't work. I ain't new at Computer music either, I know my way around software, been doing this for 10 years. A while back I did ask support@sonicfoundry.com. They told me it works for them no problem (I still don't believe it) but there is 4 of us here who can't get this happening. That's why I'm asking if anybody out there has been able to sync the two because I think you can't right now. Peter Haller wrote: >>Something - most likely Cubase has grabbed the VMR. Something - most likely Cubase has grabbed the VMR. Don't know exactly how Cubase does this, but it would seem the likely candidate. If Cubase is only being used for MIDI, then don't set Cubase up as the Master. Set ACID as the master, generating either MTC or MIDI Clock. If you have tempo changes in ACID that you want Cubase to follow, then you will need to use MIDI Clock. In either case, make sure that you disable the "use internal clock" setting in the Advanced page for the SYNC option you choose. Peter volkan wrote in message ... >Okay here's what I tried. There is a bug between Cubase and the VMR. There is no work around. The only atlernative is to obtain one of the third party MIDI Routers that are available. Just posted a note describing the same problem!!! Is this a screw up in ACID??? volkan wrote: >>Has anybody been able to sync those 2 puppies together solid ? I have the impression, by listening to all the 'Cubase experts' around that you can't use Cubase and ACID audio together because they will fight for the soundcard (if there's only one installed) and even though some say that if Cubase gets hold of it, it won't let go of it again, I had mixed results with the bottomline though that either one or the other will have the soundcard. I guess we will have to live with the fact that we have to buy a dedicated card for each audio application or take ACID files and import them into something like Wavelab and then into Cubase or save them as .wav files and open them directly into Cubase. That of course requires that the ACID project has to be pretty much completed since you will have some problems with trying to change speeds etc which really sucks!! I'm just trying to get the MTC sync going and then work on the audio in acid, use Cubase in sync as a Midi only software (audio disabled) and when I'm don with ACID, I load the file into Cubase, turn on the audio and finish my project. That's as good as I can do right now and please send me info on how to do it better!!! volkan wrote: >>Has anybody been able to sync those 2 puppies together solid ? I think the problem is (at least in part) hardware dependent. I have an old sound card--Turtle Beach Tahiti--and have had no problems triggering audio files in Cubase VST with Acid (touch wood!). But I tried this on a different system with a different card and it didn't work. Re the sync problem, if you haven't already figured this out, you need a third party Midi router--I use Midi Yoke (freeware, downloadable from the internet) and it works fine with Cubase as long as Acid is the master. Cubase just plain sucks and I would recommend that you not use it. It is the timewaster program from hell. -Tad Peter Haller wrote: >>There is a problem with Cubase and the VMR. I had asked SF to put midi tracks into acid but I don't think they will do it .I use cubase & acid together but the best way I found to do it is to use 2 computers.I am using acid 2.0 pro on a cheap used pent mmx 166 pc with a sound blaster live that has a midi card installed or you could use the midi port on the SBlive.I chose the midi port in and set the options for slave to MTC coming from my other pc which is a cheap 433 celron e-machine with a midiav midi port .I take a midi port out of the first computer and connect it to midi in of the mmx 166 with acid .Thye both lock perfectly and the 166 runs about 20 tracks of audio.I also lock 3 adats all at the same time. With acid you have to manually hit rewind to the beginnin to lock again.it does not really chase back to the beginning like it should. since they do not support MMC that the c ubase puts out to the adats etc but it does lock solid.I just start my sequnce at bar 9 to give both computers time to lock up.Acid should be set at freewheel. To me this is an ideal system as I do ont need to use the loopback programs etc. and I can see whats happening on both systems. It is a more expnsive but that is why I am using a slower pent which runs fine. Both have 64 meg memory.I also use the "slve computer for Vaz,rubberduck, hammerhead so when I am not using acid the computer can be drum machine etc.I am trying to get a 3rd machine to hook up and sell all my drum machines and synths since I will not need them and do everything on three pcs.Hopes this helps Peter Haller wrote: >>There is a problem with Cubase and the VMR.
